2nd String Sports isn't just a business—it’s an extension of our family's passion for sports and community. We took over the shop in 2013, pouring their hearts, time, and resources into building 2nd String Sports into a thriving sports shop and multi-sport destination for families across the region.

As a hands-on owner-operator, David spends his days right on the shop floor helping players get fitted, sharing gear advice, and providing custom services like glove relacing. From young athletes picking out their first set of gear to high school players gearing up for the season, we treat every customer who walks through our doors like a neighbor.

If your family is anything like ours, you know how quickly kids outgrow their gear and how fast a garage can fill up with quality equipment taking up space. We created a circular model to solve that problem: helping families trade in and upgrade their gear while recycling new and gently used equipment back into the community so every athlete gets access to top-quality equipment at honest prices.

Supporting youth sports in Stuarts Draft and the surrounding communities is at the heart of everything we do. We take immense pride in being an active partner and sponsor for local youth leagues, high school athletic programs and travel teams throughout Augusta County and beyond. Whether we're outfitting teams with custom uniforms, donating equipment, or helping leagues prepare for opening day, we believe a great local sports shop should invest right back into the community that supports it.

While we carry gear and apparel for a variety of sports, baseball and softball naturally demand the heaviest amount of specialized equipment. As player needs grew, we moved into our current facility in January 2018 and expanded again in September 2023 to add an on-site Bat Demo Cage. This allows players to test the latest bats live before making an investment, ensuring complete confidence in their swing.
